DEAP lab/club

The Digital + Emerging Art Practices (DEAP) lab/club
at the MSU Denver Department of Art

is a space for experimentation,
for w o r l d i n g,
for making things that do not yet have a name.

Here, creative

f r e e d o m

is not knowing where something will end.

Ideas drift ↝ collide ✕ mutate ⟳ disappear · reappear.
We make. We question. We fail. We begin again.

The lab is not only a place to make art,
but a place to make relations ⌁
to create community, exchange knowledge,
and encounter other ways of seeing and sensing.

technology ↔ body ↔ image ↔ environment ↔ other ↔ unknown

DEAP exists somewhere in between these things —

in the unstable space where
art becomes a way of imagining otherwise.

SOON!

pending is a continuously evolving bank of ideas, observations, questions, references, fragments, and possibilities responding to the present. Things are added, revisited, altered, connected, or abandoned as new thoughts and conditions emerge. Rather than moving toward a fixed outcome, pending operates as a living repository, a space where ideas can remain unresolved, encounter one another, and develop over time. Part notebook, part archive, part open system, it holds things that may become projects, inform future work, or simply remain as traces of thinking in progress.

worlds un/fold

An evolving exhibition series exploring digital and emerging art. Across its iterations, the works open portals into speculative narratives, immersive environments, experimental systems, and shifting forms of media—un/folding new approaches to making, thinking, and imagining through technology while tracing the expanding possibilities of contemporary creative practice. The exhibitions unfold virtually within New Art City.

You Have No Whimsy

You Have No Whimsy is a collective project developed during a Performance Art course held inside the DEAP Lab in spring 2026. Beginning with the emergency blanket as a shared prop, the project evolved into an n-1 body—headless, collective, unstable, and perpetually shifting. The blanket moves beyond its conventional role as an emergency object, becoming a temporary skin, sign, shelter, body, sound surface, and fragile collective structure.

DEAP SCREEN

a curatorial space
for things that happen
on, through, and to a screen.

not a display.
a site.

A 70" screen outside the DEAP lab/club, an ongoing exhibition site for moving images, digital experiments, and works that question what a screen can hold.
